Day 6 (November 27th) - Hong Kong Tour
We woke up a bit late, went to McDonalds for a breakfast, and decided to go to Lantau Island to visit the giant Buddha statue. However, since the Ngong Ping 360 cable car has been closed due to an accident (one of the car fell off the cable at night), we have to go there by bus and that takes around one and half an hour plus the waiting queue. The road is also have some construction work in several places, thus the trip is not quite enjoyable.
The giant Buddha statue is exactly the same as it is when we visited it on the previous year, along with the Po Lin monastery nearby.
We took some pictures over there, and then looked around for some restaurants to have lunch. Unfortunately, there are just a couple of restaurants open (not including the vegetarian restaurant in the monastery though) and they are way overpriced (the food was not that great as well). The whole site becomes not as crowded as last year, as the impact of the closed cable car facility.
We had to wait for nearly an hour for the bus back, which is not so pleasant due to the heavy cold winds. We headed back to the very crowded Mongkok area in Kowloon for shopping and Ms. Henny met her two friends over there. We had our lunch together in a nice restaurant before shopping in the Mongkok Ladies Market (a street night-market).
Since it was not possible to visit the Victoria Peak, I decided to go to Tsim Sha Tsui to take the photo of Hong Kong island. This time I come a little bit more prepared with a tripod (although not a good one) and took some great pictures. Unfortunately, I lost my D70 LCD cover in there.
The last place we visited on that day is the Temple Street (another night market in Kowloon area). The prices in there are a little bit better than in Mongkok. We went back to the hostel after that.
